Mezuzah – As Above So BelowDimensions: 1.5″ x 4.0″
Stitches: blanket, stem, colonial knots, straight
The shin is done with a whipped double stem stitch in the alpaca. The whipping is two different green silk threads. The yellow ends are cotton colonial knots.
If you look at the really big version you can see purple flowers on on arm of the “above” shin that don’t show when you are looking at it at it’s actual size.

Thanks, Xena! I’m loving playing with mezuzahs and trying to bring an earth-based sensibility to them. It’s a bit trickier than I thought!

Totally gorgeous work. Beautiful idea. & because you’ve made it shatnes (wool & linen, which only the Kohen Gadol is allowed to wear), it hearkens back to our history of ritual receptivity. Kol ha-kavod!

Such beautiful work! You’re a wonderful artisan, and that is a terrific idea you had for a Mezuzah. : )
